At a meeting of the board of Údarás na Gaeltachta in Coláiste na Rinne, in An Rinn last Friday (27 June) the following projects were approved:
Comharchumann Thoraí Teo, Toraigh, Co. Donegal
A total capital grant of €32,719 was approved for Chomharchumann Thoraí Teo to renovate the islands social club (An Club), to purchase a lift truck to transfer cargo from the boat and distribute across the island and to purchase of two glass crushing machines to reduce the volume of recyclable glass before it is removed to the mainland.
The co-operative, in association with Donegal County Council, have compiled and agreed an environmental management programme and the glass crushing machines is one step in the implementation of this plan.
Turasóireacht Iorrais Teo, Béal an Mhuirthead, Co. Mayo
Financial assistance of €15,000 was approved for Thurasóireacht Iorrais Teo to assist the company evaluate their management system and business operations and to layout a long-term strategy for the company. Turasóireacht Iorrais are involved in the management of Gailf Chúrsa Chairn and other tourism projects from time to time such as the development of the walk ‘Slí na Sláinte’, the provision of information programmes for tourists and the organisation of new road signs in association with Mayo County Council.
