Here is an outline of the legal rights you have under the The Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003. 
Requests made under the Freedom of Information Acts 1997 and 2003 should be directed to the Freedom of Information Officer.

The Freedom of Information Act, 1997 and 2003
The Freedom of Information Act 1997 came into effect on 21 April 1998 and introduced the legal rights for people:
  • to access official records held by Government Departments and other listed public bodies, 
  • to have personal information about them corrected or updated where such information is incomplete, incorrect or misleading, and
  • to be given reasons for acts taken by public bodies that affect them.
 
Making a Request
Requests under the Freedom of Information Acts should be made in writing to the FOI Manager, Údarás na Gaeltachta, Na Forbacha, Co. Galway.  Details regarding fees are contained in the Section 15 Reference Book.  The request should state that the request is being made under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Acts.
 
NOTE:
Údarás na Gaeltachta is required to acknowledge receipt of a request under the Act within ten working days and is obliged to respond to the request within twenty working days.
If information is desired in a particular form, (e.g. photocopy, computer disk, personal viewing etc.), this should be mentioned in your application.
