Undergraduates: Gaeltacht undergraduates following a course in a practical discipline are offered the opportunity of summer work experience. Normally this takes place in the summer prior to completing their course and lasts between 12 and 14 weeks. Undergraduates are accepted for longer periods, however, when work experience is mandatory as part of their course (e.g. University of Limerick). The content of the work experience is practical (e.g. projects in materials management, quality control, production planning, etc.)

Office workers: Opportunities are offered to those who have completed a recognised course in office procedures, e.g. office information systems or secretarial studies, to gain experience in the work-place for a period of up to six months.
