In accordance with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies issued by the Department of Finance in 2001, an tÚdarás has a code of conduct for board and staff members. The code of conduct takes into account the components as set out in Appendix B of the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies. It includes such matters as duty and loyalty to an tÚdarás, integrity and avoidance of conflict of interest, limits on outside activities, acceptance of gifts and honesty in dealings; fair access to information coupled with a respect for confidentiality, compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations, ensuring a satisfactory work and external environment, due acceptance of responsibility, and a commitment to review the code as appropriate.
In addition, each member of the board and each person holding a designated position of employment under the Ethics in Public Office Acts 1995 and 2001 must comply with relevant provisions of that Act. Provisions regarding disclosure of interests are also contained in section 12 of the Údarás na Gaeltachta (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1999.
