Údarás na Gaeltachta board meeting, Na Forbacha, Co Galway

Údarás na Gaeltachta approved the following projects at a board meeting held in Na Forbacha on Friday the 15th December 2006.

Cló Cheardlann na gCnoc Teo., Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal
A training grant was approved for the company to organise a training course with FETAC recognition for visual artists and for art administrators.

Turmec Teo., Ráth Chairn, Co. Meath
A financial package which includes a capital grant and a training and counselling grant was approved for Turmec Teoranta to help the company develop further.

Residential Support Centre for Carna, Co. Galway
Financial assistance was approved for Dr. Micheál Ó Cathasaigh and his wife Sally to build a Residential Support Centre in Carna. A 2,000m2 Residential Centre is planned on the Nursing Home site in Carna. The centre will accommodate 12 elderly people.

Lennon Quarries Ltd., Co. Mayo
A capital grant was approved for Lennon Quarries Ltd. to put in place a processing plant in the quarrying business in Gleann a’ Chaisil. Production and quality of products will increase as a result.

Pita Éireann Teo., Páirc Ghnó Ghaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal
A financial package was approved for Pita Éireann Teo. to help the company to develop healthy snack foods. The company will operate in a building owned by Bia Ghaoth Dobhair Teo. on the Gaoth Dobhair Business Park. It is hoped that 40 people will be employed in the company when it is fully-operational.

F.F Polymers Ltd, located in Baile Mún, Cill Charthaigh
A financial package was approved for F.F. Polymer Ltd to help the company to locate and develop a plastic shaping business in Baile Mún, Cill Charthaigh. The plastic company produces ‘Nyrim’ – a type of plastic which is very strong and used in the sea-drilling industry. The company which is currently situated in Westmeath has three people employed at the moment and it is hoped that a total of 13 people will be employed when the business is fully-operational in Cill Charthaigh.

Mark (Éire) B.V., Cúil Aodha, Co. Cork
A capital grant was approved for the company to assist them in buying new equipment to expand their range of products.

Shell E & P Ireland Ltd.
Approval was given to lease a building owned by an tÚdarás (Carraig Donn’s former factory) in Béal an Mhuirthead to Shell E & P Ireland Ltd. for development as office space. The building is made available to Shell E & P Ireland Ltd. to locate a local management and administration centre for the Corrib gas project in Béal an Mhuirthead. Up to 25 people will be employed in this centre when it will be fully developed. The company itself will be responsible for any required renovations to upgrade the former factory to office space.
