Siobhán Seoighe was appointed to the Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta in June 2015 by the Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. Her term ends on the 19 October 2017.
Originally from the Ráth Cairn Gaeltacht in Co. Meath, Siobhán works in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and Dublin City University as Irish Language Officer.
Siobhán has a primary degree in Early and Modern Irish from Trinity College, Dublin. She also has a Masters in Modern Irish from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a certificate in Project Management and Innovation. Siobhán has a wide range of experience and has worked as Enterprise Development Manager with Gaelchultúr, Events Manager for Rith Teo, and as an Executive Officer with An Foras Pátrúnachta. In 2011, Glór na nGael published her book ‘Ráth Chairn na Gréine: Bailiúcháin amhrán agus dánta ó Ghaeltacht Ráth Chairn 1935 – 2011’; a collection of songs and poetry from the Ráth Chairn Gaeltacht. Since 2013, Siobhán is a member of Comhairle RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta (Advisory Board).
As outlined in paragraph 12 of the First Schedule of the Údarás na Gaeltachta Act, 1979, Údarás board members are paid fees and allowances from Údarás funds, which are determined from time to time by the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. These fees and rates are in accordance with those laid down by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform for State Bodies of Category B of that Department.
As directed by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (2011) regarding the payment of fees to public servants who sit on state boards, this member of the Údarás Board is not paid an annual fee.
