On the nomination of Galway County Council under the Údarás na Gaeltachta Act 2012, the Minister for State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht appointed Seosamh Ó Laoi to an tÚdarás in 2012 for a five year term to 19 November 2017.
Seosamh is from An Spidéal, Co. Galway. He was a County Councillor with Galway County Council from 2011-2014.
As outlined in paragraph 12 of the First Schedule of the Údarás na Gaeltachta Act, 1979, Údarás board members are paid fees and allowances from Údarás funds, which are determined from time to time by the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. These fees and rates are in accordance with those laid down by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform for State Bodies of Category B of that Department.
As a board member of Údarás na Gaeltachta, he is paid a standard annual fee of €11,970.
