    Overview of the Grant

The objective of the Be Prepared Funding Offer is to support clients in preparing a plan to mitigate risks and optimise opportunities arising from Brexit. It can be used to help cover consultancy, travel and out of pocket expenses associated with researching the direction of their Brexit action plan. This might involve investigating the feasibility of diversifying to new markets and market segments; investment in innovation; improvement in operational competitiveness and enhancement of strategic financial capability. Clients should complete the Brexit Scorecard before making their application.

In accordance with the Údarás na Gaeltachta Act 1979-2012

State Aid Law Basis
De Minimis Aid Guidelines.
A company may be approved up to €200,000 in De Minimis aid in any 3 year period.


Applications will be accepted from clients with the following profile:

  • HPSU, SME and Large companies engaged in eligible activities;
  • Actively trading and generating sales;
  • Will be impacted by Brexit.

Note: Clients should also have completed the Brexit Scorecard.

Eligible Activities & Time Lines

The project involves the exploration of potential impacts and opportunities arising from Brexit and validation of a strategic approach that will address them.

The project should have a maximum duration of 6 months from the start date to stimulate immediate action.

Eligible & Ineligible Costs

Eligible Costs

  • Fees of external consultants in areas like strategy, market development, innovation, operations, people and finance. Note: Consultancy rate for a consultancy firm is up to a maximum of €900 per day.
  • Employee travel and subsistence (domestic and international) related to research in areas as above.

Ineligible Costs

  • Expenditure prior to date of application
  • Consultant expenses
  • Sales related expenses
  • Trade Fair participation costs
  • Salaries
  • Overheads
  • Maximum Funding Levels

    The maximum grant available is €5,000. The grant is calculated at a maximum of 50% of eligible expenditure incurred by the successful applicant.

    Údarás na Gaeltachta will assess eligibility of the activities proposed in the application and associated costs.

    Application Process

    All applications for funding should be discussed with your Údarás na Gaeltachta Project Executive prior to submission.

    Prior to applying you must do the following:

    • Contact your assigned Údarás na Gaeltachta Project Executive to discuss the application and application process.
    • The company should have first completed the Brexit Scorecard.

    The Start date of the project is the date of receipt to the application. Any costs incurred by the company prior to this date will be deemed ineligible.

    Post Approval

    After the project proposals have been considered by Údarás na Gaeltachta, successful applicants will be issued with a formal Letter of Offer.

    To accept the Letter of Offer, Applicants must return the acceptance within 60 days from the date of the Letter of Offer.

    Applicants must incur and pay for all expenditure and submit claims for payment no later than the Final Claim Date noted in their Letter of Offer.

    Any balance unclaimed after the Final Claim Date will be cancelled.

    Claims Process

    The Company can submit one claim and the following information must be included when submitting a claim:

  • Checklist
  • Director’s Statement
  • Claim Form
  • Brexit Action Plan
  • Consultant’s Invoice (should include daily rate and number of days)
  • Company bank statement as proof of payment to consultant
  • Tax Clearance Details
  • Bank Details Form
